First of all thanks for all heartwarming reactions we got on the title of our previous post/news letter/press release. We promise to never do it again. We hope you can forgive us.

A tiny update from the back of the van again. So far we’ve had four shows on this tour and right now we are having a little two day break in Berlin, where we’re being hosted by our friends Vincent and Sophie. Unfortunately we have two days off, but there’s worse places than Berlin to sit through the day. The show in Dresden got cancelled somehow and that means we’ll have a last minute show at the VoKu in Finsterwalde in stead where we’ll disturb people’s dinner by means of an acoustic show.

The tour has been treating us kind up to this moment. In Erfurt we were asked to do an interview and two acoustic songs on Radio F.R.E.I. You should be able to listen to it somehow through this link. Our first experience in Poland was interesting to say the least. Extremely nice people speaking a language that is hard to follow. And today we spent 4 hours in an enormous traffic jam between Poland and Berlin, but a highway can be entertaining outside a van as well.

ANTILLECTUAL News Letter May 2009: ANTILLECTUAL PULLS THE PLUG

Release acoustic 7”
In March we recorded 4 songs (2 old, 2 new) on acoustic guitars and percussion. We’re very happy with the result and are proud that Shield Recordings and No Reason Records release them as the “Pull the Plug” 7”. The release date is set on July 5. If you want to get colored vinyl and a chance to win a test pressing, pre-order the single at shield recordings . It will also be available as a download from July 5 just like our debut album “Silencing Civilization”. The EP will include a download code for MP3’s and will first be available at our acoustic show at Knoflook in Den Bosch (NL) together with Mischief Brew, aka our acoustic EP release show. Euro tour May

Furthermore we are really busy and actually past halfway writing a new album that we will record in October and will be released early 2010. Labels get in touché! If you want to support us by buying time in the studio, please consider visiting our shop  and check out a lot of nearly sold out models. Until that time we are, and will always be, looking for new shows and tours (also acoustic!) to try out our new songs.

When Yvo and I (Willem) were young(er) we used to watch every touring band that visited Holland in a place called Doornroosje (sleeping beauty) in Nijmegen. A couple of bands that we saw there when they were still pretty unknown: Ten Foot Pole, Pulley, New Bomb Turks, No Fun At All, Lagwagon, Blink 182, Good Riddance, The Ataris, Refused, Green Day, and millions more. And of course all the Dutch heroes of that time. We once played the small side hall of Doornroosje at the last edition of a punk festival called Punk = Dead.

On June 10 The Gaslight Anthem will play Doornroosje and doing the support for that show will be the first time we get the chance to really play there. I think the expression "excited as little kids" is appropriate for us. So please come out and join us in this great melancholic and nostalgic victory! It will be worth it, since you won't be able to catch The Gaslight Anthem ever again in such an intimate venue. And we're gonna play quite some new songs too.

Furthermore we receive more and more reviews from Japan. Hard to tell what they mean, even though 5 stars seem good, right? Or do they rate the other way around? Check them here and here.

In other Asian news; our last album "Testimony" will be released in Malaysia through Embrace records. On tape! How awesome is that? The release is planned for June. Check Embrace records and order a copy at their site when it's out.

The second Shield Recordings showcase will take place at The Stage in Arnhem on March 21, next weekend! The line up is awesome and it seems it's gonna be a damn fine party. Make sure to be there on time, or reserve tickets at the Shield webstore. THIS WILL SELL OUT.

Our friends from Atlas losing Grip will come down from Sweden to play as well. And for us it will be the only show in our own region in and for a while, so if you are from Nijmegen/Arnhem and you want to catch us …
