And it seems we are back! And we’re very happy with that. Some features will still be added, but we’re up and running, and that’s what matters most. We have two (2) tour reports to announce. One from our tour through Germany in February/March of this year the we forgot to put up here. The other one is from our tour through Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and Austria in May. Enjoy!

Furthermore we are happy to announce a tour with our European political punker colleagues of Rentokill! Check the shows section for when and where exactly. A nice package to have an enjoyable evening with I presume. On top of that Tom from Smash the Statues will be joining us on the road despite his here and there somewhat peculiar taste in music. Kidding, we love him. And not only for coming on tour with us. We are still in need of one (1!) show, let us know if you want to help us out.

Today we also received our new and acoustic “Pull the Plug” 7″. In case you want to order one let us know. It costs 5 euro and contains four (4!) songs. And we’re extremely happy with the PINK result. More info will follow soon in our merch section. You can listen to a song on our myspace page.

pull the plug baby!

In the mean time we keep adding more and more “local” shows in between our busy touring schedule. Check the shows section for those and let us know if you want us to play your metropole too. More (+) news soon!

Antillectual pulls the plug

ANTILLECTUAL News Letter May 2009: ANTILLECTUAL PULLS THE PLUG

After years of writing songs on acoustic guitars, people asking us to play some songs acoustic and acoustic jamming together on tour, we decided to do it right: release an acoustic album and play acoustic shows. And obviously there’s also some more “ordinary” touring and recording to announce.

– Release acoustic 7”
– Euro tour May
– New songs, recordings and other stuff

Release acoustic 7”
In March we recorded 4 songs (2 old, 2 new) on acoustic guitars and percussion. We’re very happy with the result and are proud that Shield Recordings and No Reason Records release them as the “Pull the Plug” 7”. The release date is set on July 5. If you want to get colored vinyl and a chance to win a test pressing, pre-order the single at shield recordings . It will also be available as a download from July 5 just like our debut album “Silencing Civilization”. The EP will include a download code for MP3’s and will first be available at our acoustic show at Knoflook in Den Bosch (NL) together with Mischief Brew, aka our acoustic EP release show. If you are curious what we sound or even look like acoustic; check out these live clips: http://www.vimeo.com/3836932 and http://vimeo.com/3836906 or download a song here

Check out a video interview we did (in Dutch) and some more acoustic songs here: http://www.lopendvuur.nl/2009/04/15/podcast-aflevering-3-lva-antillectual/

05 May 2009 ~ Comments Off on Sleeping beauty

Sleeping beauty

When Yvo and I (Willem) were young(er) we used to watch every touring band that visited Holland in a place called Doornroosje (sleeping beauty) in Nijmegen. A couple of bands that we saw there when they were still pretty unknown: Ten Foot Pole, Pulley, New Bomb Turks, No Fun At All, Lagwagon, Blink 182, Good Riddance, The Ataris, Refused, Green Day, and millions more. And of course all the Dutch heroes of that time. We once played the small side hall of Doornroosje at the last edition of a punk festival called Punk = Dead.

On June 10 The Gaslight Anthem will play Doornroosje and doing the support for that show will be the first time we get the chance to really play there. I think the expression "excited as little kids" is appropriate for us. So please come out and join us in this great melancholic and nostalgic victory! It will be worth it, since you won't be able to catch The Gaslight Anthem ever again in such an intimate venue. And we're gonna play quite some new songs too.

Furthermore we receive more and more reviews from Japan. Hard to tell what they mean, even though 5 stars seem good, right? Or do they rate the other way around? Check them here and here.

In other Asian news; our last album "Testimony" will be released in Malaysia through Embrace records. On tape! How awesome is that? The release is planned for June. Check Embrace records and order a copy at their site when it's out.
Tape! Nuts!

06 April 2009 ~ Comments Off on Working on new stuff

Working on new stuff

As we speak we are working on new music, lyrics and a revolutionary way to combine those two. Most likely they will appears as "songs" on a future "album", but we can't guarantee "anything". It seems our previous album ("Testimony") is available in JAPAN exactly 1 year after the release in Europe! Check Fast Life Records on how to order some piece of that. Check out this review in Japanese (we think) and please let us know what it means. Does this really say we're NOT METAL?!

Since the amount of social networks is getting enormous and we can't keep up with updating them all, we want to stress that this website is and always will be the number one source to spread our shite from. Myspace is updated pretty often as well, but that's about it. Obviously, feel free to check out all the places we're trying to infiltrate to gain some "attention", or shamelessly increase your own crowd of "friends" by adding us at these places:

Myspace!

Facebook!

Twitter!

Youtube!

Last.fm!

Hyves!

Purevolume!

Picasa!

Flickr!

Isound!

This is insane. And maybe we even forgot about 1 or 2 …

The Shield showcase was an enormous success. Thanks to all people for coming out (from far away!) and to Gert and Fieke for organising. Pictures can be found online here. Looking forward to March 21, 2010!

Furthermore we're still looking for some more shows on the tours (ao Germany/Poland) we have planned so far. Please see if you can help us out. That's it for now. New news next time.
