Antillectual

At about 1625 Hrs I left for Perron55_ which had some punkbands playing. The first one, the Jux Junction, played a decent show. They really made progress since I last saw them, so that was good. The second band on was Antillectual….

let me be clear about this one… WOW FUCKING WOW!! What a band, what an energetic live performance. Finally a band that shows people how it's done again. Doesn't matter when the lights come down from the ceiling, just rock!! Also, finally a band that dares to make a stand on stage, a band that is conscious about the world around us, and dares speak out loud!! I knew the name, but never heard the band before, but… instant fan!!

After Antillectual, 3 storey high played a nice show of green dayish tunes. It was a shame I had to run because Eindhoven was already waiting. I quickly picked up a copy of the Antillectual album and a shirt, and went on my way.

here we are, and here are the new songs. you can download them on the top of this page or listen to them at our myspace page. please do so and spread the word! hope you are just as happy with the new songs as we are. it might be your first chance to hear riekus on drums on antillectual recordings? these songs are recorded by nico "ultraruig" van montfort (o.a. face tomorrow, malkovich, instil) at the snowstar studio in panningen in march 2007.

more of the same will follow in late 2007 when we hope to release our new full length through an as-yet undecided label. if you happen to have a label that is interested in getting our music out there, please let us know. if you don't happen to own one, consider starting one?

did you already check out the merchandise offers we put up at the merch section? you can support us getting through the upcoming recordings by buying something from us. we'll take orders from all over the world. please don't buy something from us if you want to prevent us from recording anything at all, ever. 

this week we will finish the mix of the new recorded songs. we've heard a premix and we're "ultra" excited already. expect a new song online next week. there will be several samplers featuring the new songs as well. we'll keep you posted on those releases.

the upcoming recordings will be very exhausting financially speaking, and therefore we have made some offers you simply cannot refuse, once you checked them out (paradoxal, isn't it?). we are "selling out" because we've invested quite a bit in merchandise over the years and we are gonna need all the cents we can scrape together for the recordings. please check the merch section if you've tried all the refusing but gave in. if you think you have an interesting offer yourself, surprise us and let us know!

we also added some new shows, both national and international. as we told you before (and cannot mention enough), we will be touring the u.s.a. again in july. together with a band called static radio. they will join us in september and october on a european tour to return the favour. if you're interested in having us play in your town, check the shows section and we'll see if we can work something out.

thirdly, all the tour reports have been uploaded and put in the photo section, even if they don't include photo's. some old ones that weren't online before are up now as well, even the 2004 u.s.a. tour report.

and last but not least: there's bob-news! the good thing is: bob is still active behind his drum kit. the bad things is: together with (former) members of last to go, all under age and the shining he plays in a band called "frightening fiction". just kidding, no bad news, it's an awesome band with the coolest scenstars holland will ever produce. their first gig will take place april 19 in de onderbroek in nijmegen together with brat pack and the tenement kids. go check em out since the stuff i already heard is amazing. fast! 

were: "hell yeah, that feels real good!" we had a lot of fun recording and the premature results, the unmixed songs we took home, are very satisfying already. we simply can't wait to record the songs for the full length later this year. nico, our engineer, is on tour and therefore the final mixings and mastering might not be done very soon, unfortunately. until that time we're looking forward to play those new songs live. keep checking this website and our myspace for news about the demo recordings.

speaking of which, our myspace now officially has been pimped. finally it looks like something. what, we don't know yet though. please, since we had to take down our guest book, leave us a message on our myspace. if you're just as much a sell out as we are, that is.

and, as you could already see on our myspace and could have heard if you pay attention to gossip, we will be touring the u.s.a. again! after 2 summers of absence, we'll be hitting the american east coast again in july. this time we found the people of static radio (u.s.a., chunksaah records) willing and able to take us (on tour, of course). if you can and want to help us out with shows, check the shows section and/or email us for the tour schedule.

last of all: our apologies, this website has been down, or visually handicapped, as you wish, for several days. hope everything is fixed now. a new website is on the way too, anyway … 

this weekend it's gonna happen! we'll be hitting the studio for the first time after 2,5 years to record three completely new songs. titles: "the dog ate it", "sponsorship for life" and "waves". now let your imagination run free. they won't be released officially but some might appear on the internet or on future samplers. they're primarily intended as demo's and for promotional purposes, in order to record and release our next full length later this year. we'll keep you posted on when the demo recordings are mixed, mastered and all.

on a less positive note: seein' red was supposed to play the benefit show march 30 in wageningen but had to cancel because of the drummer's pneumonia. they're not the only band suffering from that, i guess … hope to see you all at the angry youth records show in arnhem on march 23. we'll play together with fine bands like point at others, karaktermoord and terrordactyl. please, come and check out the new songs, shirts and samplers we have. that's it for now. bye bye!
