With one foot in the plane

Tomorrow morning we'll fly out to the USA to do a East Coast tour for the third time. Excitement is an understatement. Awesome people and shows will be awaiting us. So far we will be playing The Fest VII with an insane amount of awesome bands (250+) and club shows with A Wilhelm Scream and Bridge and Tunnel among many more. Keep an eye on this site for updates and reports. We bring a video camera so expect some video footage every now and then too. For this tour we have a new shirt design that will only availabel on the USA shows, so make sure to stop by. We'll also bring the new LP's and CD's of Silencing Civilization Shield Recodrings re-released.

Besides the USA tour we have some new shows and tours lined up on the shows page. Check out if we come anywhere near you, and if not maybe you can help us out to do so?

If you want to order the re-release of the remastered Silencing Civilization you can do so now through this site (info@antillectual). Our 2 albums together cost 15 euro and a shirt and an album are 15 euro too. Just to let you know.

Tourvideo & report

We're back! From tour that is. We had an awesome time touring Europe with Jena Berlin and can't wait to see them at the Gainesville fest . Speaking of tour: while i'm still working on the full video-report, please enjoy this little snippet from our show in Gornja Radgona, Slovenia. The written report is still on our site, and complete, and all the pictures we found have been uploaded to our picasa account

Cucumber time

It seems like there is not much going on, but behind the screens we are preparing a lot of stuff. New tours and releases are being prepared as we speak. New dates are appearing on our website for the tour we will be doing together with Jena Berlin from Pennsylvania (USA) in September. Check out their music and message, great band in the style of Hot Water Music, Boy Sets Fire and Smal Brown Bike, really happy to be touring with them. If you want to help us out with a date just email us.

On the trip we made last week we had a lot of fun. Thanks to all people helping out with the nice festivals in Italy, and the nice show with Death by Stereo in Zurich (Swi). If you have pictures, videos or whatever let us know, we'd be delighted. Thanks to everyone for coming out and hopefully enjoying our music. It was actually our first experience with Pieter on bass and it turns out great! So we're very happy with that.

Thirdly we'd like to announce that our debut album "Silencing Civilization" is almost sold out. We have some digipacks left and after those this pressing is gone. Fortunately the amazing people at Shield Recordings offered us to re-release the album. And this time the album will appear as a jewel case CD-version and on vinyl! So that's extremely cool in our opinion. For this re-release the album will be remastered by our own Nico van Montfort for both CD and LP. Hopefully it will be out by our tour in September, but we can't promise anything since vinyl pressing plants can be slow … We will keep you up to date!

For those interested in live videos we have some new clips marked as favorites on our Youtube account. Among them a live video of our show in the Melkweg with Anti-Flag. Check them out and let us know if you have any videos that are not up there.

And last but not least. People in Japan can now order a copy of Testimony from Disk Union. Check this link for a direct order (At least, that's what I think it is. My Japanese could use some improvement).

That's it! See you all in Belgium! Propa-fucking-gandhi! If they sue us for plagiarism, I'm gonna sue them for stealing my sleep!

Interviews, Testimony stream & more

Holland's biggest music site – 3voor12.nl – put our new album in its "Luisterpaal". You can now stream the entire album here. I guess they put it up in mono, that's why the quality isn't 100% (only 95%), but you get a very nice impression. Try before you buy!

More and more reviews are coming our way, mainly from Italy where No Reason Records is doing their best to get "Testimony" out there. But, unfortunately, they are all in Italian. Once we have a translation, we'll put them online. For all Italians, please check them here directly:

Recensione Rock Ambula
Recensione Long Live Rock 'n' Roll

And an interview in Italian as well:
Interview Long Live Rock 'n' Roll

Also, there is a live video of among others Friendly Fire on youtube. If you have more videos of our shows or whatever, we'd be honoured if you put them online and/or send us the file or link where we can find it. Thanks to Trilobart for this video. Our own Youtube account can be found here

And last, this month's Up Magazine features an interview with us, and has an amazing review up for our album too. Please check it out if you're interested. More paper zines!

That's it for now I guess. If you have news for us, let us know!

The band will sell the album (CD+LP) at shows from March 3. This is also the date when the album is available in shops throughout Europe. If you are a label or distributor interested in our record, get in contact with a label near you for wholesale prices.
If you haven't listened to the new songs, you can check them online at our myspace, we recently added a new song called "Friendly Fire". There you can also take a look at the beautiful artwork by Gemma Pauwels. The first review of the album is in already; if they all could be like this one … please have a read:

Antillectual – Testimony

From mid-tempo melancholic post-punk to thrashing punkrock! Antillectual is far from ashamed to militantly show its versatility on the band's second full-length album. Indeed, Silencing Civilization's successor is a straight up hit! Recognizable melody, emotion, and passion combined with somewhat unconventional structures, inventive guitar riffs and vocal harmonies. Propagandhi meeting A Wilhelm Scream meeting Strike Anywhere meeting No Use For A Name meeting Bad Religion with a hint of Hot Water Music? No, totally different! (But somewhat alike).

From the rising of the drums in opening song Testimony to the fade out of the swelling sounds in I Hope You Got My Letter, all are a feast for the ear and eye. Not the least for the eye, because again the socially critical lyrics and their explanations can be found in the booklet.

Plusses are among many things the hot Maiden riff in The Dog Ate It! and pleasantly up-tempo rocking songs like Waves and On Its Own. The only blot is the length of I Hope You Got My Letter that tends to stand out in that way. This could be a personal objection that no one agrees with though, so don't be bothered. If the record contained 4 more songs I wouldn't even have noticed.

Well, a band that spreads its message with this much passion and integrity and, on top of that, is a treat for the ear, what else could one wish for?How beautiful punkrock can be. *Sigh*

Score: 88/100

Some more publications will follow soon, including Testimony reviews and interviews in Up Magazine and Long Live Rock 'n' Roll among others.
