Back from tour, no email

Sunday we got home from an incredibly enjoyable tour which brought us to some new places and got us in touch with some new faces. A tour report will obviously follow soon. Right now we are recovering and looking forward to the Dutch shows we have lined up for now. We'll even try out some acoustic songs on not so acoustic shows. Ah well, come and see!

At this very moment we're changing this very website from its very server, so there might be a chance that emails get stuck in between. If so, please resend your emails to antillectual@gmail.com. Sorry for the inconvenience!

24 May 2009 ~ Comments Off on From the back of the van

From the back of the van

First of all thanks for all heartwarming reactions we got on the title of our previous post/news letter/press release. We promise to never do it again. We hope you can forgive us.

A tiny update from the back of the van again. So far we’ve had four shows on this tour and right now we are having a little two day break in Berlin, where we’re being hosted by our friends Vincent and Sophie. Unfortunately we have two days off, but there’s worse places than Berlin to sit through the day. The show in Dresden got cancelled somehow and that means we’ll have a last minute show at the VoKu in Finsterwalde in stead where we’ll disturb people’s dinner by means of an acoustic show.

The tour has been treating us kind up to this moment. In Erfurt we were asked to do an interview and two acoustic songs on Radio F.R.E.I. You should be able to listen to it somehow through this link. Our first experience in Poland was interesting to say the least. Extremely nice people speaking a language that is hard to follow. And today we spent 4 hours in an enormous traffic jam between Poland and Berlin, but a highway can be entertaining outside a van as well.

Hope to see you at a show to come:
May 26 Ger Finsterwalde VoKu *Acoustic*
May 27 Cz Republic Prague 007 Club w/ Criminal Damage, Germ Attak
May 28 A Wiener Neustadt Bandhouse
May 29 Ger Zwiesel Jugendcafé Zwiesel
May 30 Ger Chemnitz ajz-chemnitz w/ I Walk the Line, Trainwreck, Just Went Black, Glasses, North Shore, Kenzaris Middle Kata, Vengeance Today, Down on knees I'm weak, Komissar X

15 May 2009 ~ Comments Off on Antillectual pulls the plug

Antillectual pulls the plug

ANTILLECTUAL News Letter May 2009: ANTILLECTUAL PULLS THE PLUG

After years of writing songs on acoustic guitars, people asking us to play some songs acoustic and acoustic jamming together on tour, we decided to do it right: release an acoustic album and play acoustic shows. And obviously there’s also some more “ordinary” touring and recording to announce.

– Release acoustic 7”
– Euro tour May
– New songs, recordings and other stuff

Release acoustic 7”
In March we recorded 4 songs (2 old, 2 new) on acoustic guitars and percussion. We’re very happy with the result and are proud that Shield Recordings and No Reason Records release them as the “Pull the Plug” 7”. The release date is set on July 5. If you want to get colored vinyl and a chance to win a test pressing, pre-order the single at shield recordings . It will also be available as a download from July 5 just like our debut album “Silencing Civilization”. The EP will include a download code for MP3’s and will first be available at our acoustic show at Knoflook in Den Bosch (NL) together with Mischief Brew, aka our acoustic EP release show. If you are curious what we sound or even look like acoustic; check out these live clips: http://www.vimeo.com/3836932 and http://vimeo.com/3836906 or download a song here

Check out a video interview we did (in Dutch) and some more acoustic songs here: http://www.lopendvuur.nl/2009/04/15/podcast-aflevering-3-lva-antillectual/

Euro tour May
To continue our amplified journey we planned a tour in a new direction. It will be our first time in Poland and the Czech Republic. As you can see we’re still in need of 3 shows. If you can help us out: please do!

If you want to support us by buying time in the studio, please consider visiting our shop  and check out a lot of nearly sold out models. Until that time we are, and will always be, looking for new shows and tours (also acoustic!) to try out our new songs.

27 April 2009 ~ Comments Off on Good times

Good times

We played two shows this weekend. On friday there was a last minute show in Menen, Belgium. Not a lot of people, but we had a great time with Bert from The Ignored. We slept at his appartment in Ieper. If people are interested in the WO1, they probably know the city Ieper. The Germans fought an endless battle against the French and English troops in 1914. It was impressive to see all the names of the 130.000 soldiers who lost their lives on the walls.
We played for the very first time in Lille (France) on Saturday. Gollygee, what a show! A small venue with shows on a daily basis. I think 80 people could be stashed in it. By the time we started playing, almost 100 people crammed their way in, dancing, having a blast. And boy, it was hot as hell! Definitely one of those shows I’ll remember for a long time. Thanks to Stan who put up the show!

In the meantime, we’re working on new songs. New album? Indeed. Soon? Uhm… There’s so much to come before we at that chapter. But I can tell there are some breaks in the new songs I don’t understand yet…
If you want to hear some new tunes, come to our shows! We’ll play some live. Just for you. Not really, but still…

Tata! Yvo
