NEWSLETTER APRIL 2026: Canadian Tour & Hall Of Mirrors

All good things must come to an end! It was kei tof releasing a Dutch EP, doing our biggest national tour yet and seeing people either singing along to our Dutch lyrics or being flabbergasted by butchered classic Dutch songs. But time has come to visit Canada and present a new single!

Hall Of Mirrors

This is an odd one, as it was recorded during the Big Dog Recordings Pizza Session! A weekend long recording session for their 10 year anniversary compilation. Our new single Hall of Mirrors is an early-AFI-inspired track about the shifting perspectives of protest; who is on your side and who isn’t? Check Hall of Mirrors music & video!

Recorded by Tim van Doorn at Big Dog Recordings obviously, recording session music video by Seppe Dausi. The compilation album will be out digitally and on vinyl July 1st via White Russian Records. Also featuring Tusky, Batwölf, F.O.D., Loud Love, Mike Noegraf, St. Plaster, Charlie Bit My Finger, Craig’s Brother, Harsh Realms and Bridle. All profits go to Dog Rescue Greece. Big love for Big Dog!

NEWSLETTER JANUARY 2026: 25 Years Of Antillectual!

Trigger warning! If you’ve been following us for a while, you might feel old reading or watching this:

Check the announcement video!

Today, January 13, 2026, we are celebrating our 25th birthday! Twenty five years of Antillectual sounds crazy, especially since this band started as some friends with hardly any musical experience, ambition or talent. We will be celebrating our anniversary throughout all of 2026 with a lot of special events like throwbacks, tours, a new album and the publication of an actual book, how intellectual!

Pinpointing the start of this band is very arbitrary. We started rehearsing sometime in 1999, consolidated a lineup sometime in 2000 and even did our first demo that year. Over the years we evolved as a band, changed our approach and had many lineup changes. Nonetheless it’s a fact that we’ve been playing shows for twenty-fucking-five years… time to celebrate!

Play Live

In 25 years we have played 1200 shows, so it only makes sense that we are going to play some more to celebrate our anniversary! Starting with the second part of our Dutch tour promoting the ANTILLECTUEEL EP, followed by playing Pouzza Fest and a Canadian tour around it, which we will announce in the next weeks.

Jan 29 Haarlem, Patronaat. w/ Third Ego, Rites
Feb 13 Dordrecht, Bibelot. w/ Skroetbalg, Bovendanen
Mar 13 Rotterdam, Voigt. w/ Video Store, De Dikke Kees
Apr 01 Arnhem, Willemeen. w/ All Dogs Go To Heaven
Apr 09 Hoofddorp, Cpunt. w/ Pussy Riot
Apr 11 Zwolle, Skroetfest. w/ Skroetbalg, March, State Power a.o.
May 15 CA Montreal, Pouzza Fest. w/ Pup, Buzzcocks, Makewar, Krang, Not Scientists and many others!

Info & tickets via our site. Many more dates to come…

Release Music

In 2026 we will also release a new full length album, featuring previously released singles “Whose Streets? Our Streets!”, “Post Teens” and 8-10 new songs. All in English, maak je geen zorgen! Leading up to the release of the album we will release a handful of new singles.

Tour stories in Ox Fanzine

Publish A Book

Something that we didn’t know was on our bucket list: creating a book! After 25 years of being a band, releasing music and being on the road it’s time to share some stories that aren’t suitable for social media or newsletters. Throughout the year we will publish excerpts – Ox Fanzine already gave a sneaky preview in issue 182 – and we will give you more details on what you can expect before starting the pre-order. Here’s a tiny hint: plenty of words, unseen illustrations and barely heard music.

TL;DR? Happy birthday to us!

NEWSLETTER OCTOBER 2025: Voorrang Voor Rechts single release!

Photo: Tijs VL

Today we’re releasing our first ever song in Dutch: VOORRANG VOOR RECHTS! A fast song about Dutch politics moving to the right. Part of the Antillectueel EP and accompanied by a nice string of Dutch dates!

The artwork for Voorrang Voor Rechts

Voorrang Voor Rechts

A thrashy song about giving priority to rightwing politics, describing the Rechtsruck happening everywhere in the world, zooming in on the Netherlands. Check the landing page for our new single with the music video, links to Spotify, Bandcamp and the like. Also including a pre-order of the full EP, with lyrics in Dutch and liner notes in English. Artwork by Tessel Dekker from Segolia.

Artwork for the Antillectueel EP

Antillectueel

If “Antillectual” was a real word “Antillectueel” would be the proper Dutch translation. Inspired by a wide range of influences including Nederpunk bands like Seein’ Red, Mihoen, Antidote, Gewapend Beton and many others. But also by an artist like Drs P, polemic, dad jokes, word puns and ramblings in Dutch for 40 years. Pre-order via our web shop.

After expressing ourselves in English for over 20 years and with Dutch politics going crazy it felt equally exciting as necessary to write songs about what’s going on in our neck of the woods. Songs about local symptoms of global developments. The ANTILLECTUEEL EP will come out November 11 as a digital release and a physical release including an orange vinyl 7″ and an insert with lyrics in Dutch and liner notes in English. Artwork by Thomas Mennen.

Voorrang Voor Nederland

Playing Dutch songs live only makes sense in the Netherlands, so kom op! New shows in Eindhoven and Zwolle added, and amazing bands:

Nov 28 Eindhoven, Burgers. w/ EDLP
Dec 05 Den Haag, Musicon. w/ Cooper, Character Actors
Dec 13 Nijmegen, Voorrang Voor Vrienden Veest. w/ Het Tribunaal
Jan 09 Utrecht, dB’s
Jan 10 Leiden, Resistor. w/ Coral Springs, Dishes
Apr 11 Zwolle, Skroetfest. w/ Skroetbalg, March, State Power
Info & tickets via our site. More dates to be added…

TL;DR? New single, new EP, tour!

NEWSLETTER JUNE 2025: Post Teens

Still from the Post Teens music video

Releasing music is always exciting, but our new single Post Teens is something else for us. It’s probably the most “accessible” song we’ve ever put out. If you’re anything like us you’ll love it! Unless you hate earworms? Either way we can’t wait for the world to hear it, proceed and check it out:

Post Teens single artwork

Post Teens is a nostalgic anthem, resonating with everyone over 20 longing back to their high school days. Willem has been playing the main guitar riff for years now, and finally managed to include it in a song with lovely guest vocals by Roos de Huu. Check the track on your favorite platform and let us know what you think. We’re not old, we’re all post teens!

Recording, mixing and synth effect by Tim van Doorn and Big Dog Recordings; mastering by Nico van Montfort at XPZ Sound. 90s music video by Roos de Huu and artwork by Wouter and Maarten de Vugt at Daggers Design.

Shows

Besides being contagious, Post Teens is extremely difficult to play live. We’re gonna do it and give it all nonetheless! Unfortunately, due to unforeseen reasons, the Leipzig and Störfaktor shows will not happen for us… Fortunately we have other great excuses to leave your retirement home:

Aug 08 DE Düsseldorf, Pitcher
Aug 09 DE Villmar, Tells Bells
Sep 06 DE Sassenburg, Kottenrock
Info & tickets via our site.

That’s it for now, thanks for reading our newsletter in times of disturbing social media! We love hearing from you, so don’t be shy: hit reply! In the next episode we will share some of the live and release plans we can’t talk about just yet…

Take care, Ben, Riekus & Willem
