If you haven't listened to the new songs, you can check them online at our myspace, we recently added a new song called "Friendly Fire". There you can also take a look at the beautiful artwork by Gemma Pauwels. The first review of the album is in already; if they all could be like this one … please have a read:

Antillectual – Testimony

From mid-tempo melancholic post-punk to thrashing punkrock! Antillectual is far from ashamed to militantly show its versatility on the band's second full-length album. Indeed, Silencing Civilization's successor is a straight up hit! Recognizable melody, emotion, and passion combined with somewhat unconventional structures, inventive guitar riffs and vocal harmonies. Propagandhi meeting A Wilhelm Scream meeting Strike Anywhere meeting No Use For A Name meeting Bad Religion with a hint of Hot Water Music? No, totally different! (But somewhat alike).

From the rising of the drums in opening song Testimony to the fade out of the swelling sounds in I Hope You Got My Letter, all are a feast for the ear and eye. Not the least for the eye, because again the socially critical lyrics and their explanations can be found in the booklet.

Plusses are among many things the hot Maiden riff in The Dog Ate It! and pleasantly up-tempo rocking songs like Waves and On Its Own. The only blot is the length of I Hope You Got My Letter that tends to stand out in that way. This could be a personal objection that no one agrees with though, so don't be bothered. If the record contained 4 more songs I wouldn't even have noticed.

Well, a band that spreads its message with this much passion and integrity and, on top of that, is a treat for the ear, what else could one wish for?How beautiful punkrock can be. *Sigh*

Score: 88/100

Some more publications will follow soon, including Testimony reviews and interviews in Up Magazine and Long Live Rock 'n' Roll among others.

07 November 2007 ~ Comments Off on in between news

in between news

hey there! from the outside it might seem there's not much happening, but on the inside it's boiling. we're working on the release full time, we don't even have time to play shows this month. but things are looking good, the album will appear on both c.d. and vinyl this time and will be available all over europe. and beyond. that's more or less all we can say right now. as soon as there's confirmations, we'll post it here.

what we did update is the merchandise section. the new zipped hoody is online and orderable. and adorable. and all buttons/pins are back in stock again, just like the new stickers. go see for yourself.

awaiting the new album and the new songs you can watch the video that was shut at our last show (to date) in breda. there's some new songs on it too, if you're interested. check it out on our youtube page under "favorites", of course!

we can still use some help on the dates in the u.k. and germany in january, so if you feel the need, feel free to help out! info@antillectual.com . we hope to see you in amsterdam on november 30 when we play with enemy alliance (!) and smash the statues(?). that's it for now, bye!

18 October 2007 ~ Comments Off on back from tour

back from tour

dear all, this week we got back from our longest, best, warmest, hardest and most american euro tour we did so far. we've had great times together with the static radio boys in all the beautiful countries and cities we went to. on the other hand we suffered the worst experience a touring band can experience: a van breaking down. between toulouse and montpellier the van decided not to shift gears anymore. well, stuck in third gear you won't get far, but just like your mom managed to arrange replacement transportation. if it wasn't for mom we'd have to cancel the rest of the tour. with the new transportation (two vehicles actually, a car and a minivan) we could finish the rest of the tour. even though we have to offer our most sincere apologies to the people in montpellier who came to the show and for who we came in too late (we only had a 6 hour delay because of the van breaking down). hopefully we'll be back in montpellier soon to make this up! but for the rest this tour was better than any other tour we ever did. never before did so many people come to the shows, did we sell so much merch and were people singing along in tune this much. thank you to all contributing to this, both people organizing and showing up. if you want to read in detail how everything went, read on at our 3voor12 diary (all in dutch unfortunately, an english version will be posted on our site soon!). if you want to watch some pictures we and static radio took, please go here. a video report will be posted later.

other news: we have some more shows in our own country to announce, and since the show in nijmegen was such a succes even though some people couldn't make it, we'll be playing again in nijmegen december 20, at de onderbroek. also we'll be playing in one of our other hometowns, leeuwarden. check the shows for more dates.

on the tour we brought some new merchandise, new zippers, hoodies, t-shirts, girlies, stickers, 7"es. and there are some leftovers we brought back home. please check the merchandise section if you're looking for a 7" or a new sweater to confront the cold winter. one zipped hoody design is not online yet, next time it will be. we also have new sampler offers. just to let you know.

and, since we just got back from tour, we're working hard on our next tour. this time we'll be hitting the u.k. and germany again. if you can and want to help us out, you're more than welcome. please check the shows section for available dates.

last but not least, next week the final master of the new album, testimony, will be back from the studio. we're still talking to several labels about the release. as soon as any confirmations are in you will read it here. as for now, it looks the record won't be out before the new year though.

16 September 2007 ~ Comments Off on back from the studio!

back from the studio!

and again, it's been a while, but only because all of us have been so damn busy! mainly we've spent 10 days and nights in the studio to record the most important parts for our new full length album. but we still have to record some piano parts, mix everything and send it to the mastering studio. and then we'll have to see for a way to release this thing. we're talking with several labels about the release, but no decision has been made so far. hopefully it will be out before the end of this year, it should be possible if things get along. in the studio we also shot some video, so you might expect a small video report sooner or later.

other report-talk: the tour report from our u.s.a. tour is now also up on our site in english, please check it out here, you can also find links to the pictures we took on that tour and the videos and diaries we made. have fun! we're also busy preparing our longest euro tour to date, 16 dates together with our friends from static radio. we'll be crossing holland, france, italy, austria and germany. all but one shows are confirmed and looking good, so if you have the chance, drop by and say hello.

we'll also bring a complete new line of merchandise including, shirts, girlies, (zipped) hoodies, stickers and 7"es. and we might play some of the new recorded songs live. no, we will. if you want to check out the tour poster (and spread it?), you're welcome: click here for a big version and a huge version. we don't do small no more. a lot of thank you's to all the "partners" helping us out ons this tour, mentioned on the bottom of the poster. the poster is designed by gemma, check her other amazing stuff!

if you want to order the 7" that was released for the u.s.a. tour you can go to the no idea records site and order it through their distro. for this upcoming tour there will be a tour diary on 3voor12, holland's biggest online music magazine. i'm afraid it will be in dutch, we will see what we can do about that. we hope to update it as much as possible. more than we update this site, we hope.

speaking of which, the new website seems to have some delay, unfortunately. all our time and attention is going to the new record and the upcoming tour. i guess that's it for now, we hope to see you out on tour!

27 April 2007 ~ Comments Off on “maybes” meaning “no” & clandestine advertisement

“maybes” meaning “no” & clandestine advertisement

here we are, and here are the new songs. you can download them on the top of this page or listen to them at our myspace page. please do so and spread the word! hope you are just as happy with the new songs as we are. it might be your first chance to hear riekus on drums on antillectual recordings? these songs are recorded by nico "ultraruig" van montfort (o.a. face tomorrow, malkovich, instil) at the snowstar studio in panningen in march 2007.

more of the same will follow in late 2007 when we hope to release our new full length through an as-yet undecided label. if you happen to have a label that is interested in getting our music out there, please let us know. if you don't happen to own one, consider starting one?

did you already check out the merchandise offers we put up at the merch section? you can support us getting through the upcoming recordings by buying something from us. we'll take orders from all over the world. please don't buy something from us if you want to prevent us from recording anything at all, ever.
