Bring your favorite bands to Groezrock 2013

Three years ago we got the chance to play the Macbeth stage at Groezrock. We had an incredible time doing so, seeing so many friends from all over Europe in one place. This year there is a group of bands that wants to do the same. By voting for your friends’ band you can support them getting a spot. Now we are not gonna give a voting advice, there’s simply too many friends of us in there. But maybe you have friends in there as well, go ahead and help them out!

Bands you can vote for (every day) right here. Any familiar names?

28 December 2012 ~ Comments Off on Year list 2012

Year list 2012

How’s everybody doing? Stuffed yourselves well enough during Christmas? Bought enough fireworks to celebrate the new year? Are you bored in between those two “highlights” of the year? In case the latter applies we made some sort of year-list. Even though our scene will always be focused on what is happening on that other side of the Atlantic Ocean, it is incredible how much awesome music comes from our tiny country and our less tiny continent. These are only some of the real highlights in 2012 from Holland and Europe. It’s about time to recognize, we’re in this together!

Astpai – Efforts and Means
They totally killed it at Fest 11. In 2012 they served us amazing live shows, a new album and documentary. Europe’s second-hardest-working band 😉

Smile and Burn – We Didn’t Even Fight Yet
This is best described as a combination of the Beatsteaks and Lifetime. Or something like that. Catchy and melodic on record; energetic and funny as hell live.

Harsh Realms – Sink in Time/Chemistry EP
Most promising band from Holland in 2012. But only 2 songs on this EP, and unfortunately only 1 of them on youtube. They played our EP release party and kicked kont! New album next year?

Bedtime For Charlie – Bright City Lights
Italy’s kings of pop punk. Can easily live up to their North American collaegues. RIYL The Wonder Years, Man Overboard, Transit, Run For Cover Records. All combined on this Album

Bangers – Good Livin’
I’m sure you know them, coolest UK band at this moment, friendliest dudes. Played a completely packed Onderbroek last Sunday. This is only an EP, hopefully a new album soon.

Coral Springs – Greetings From
Female vocals, you know we’re suckers for that. Newest female fronted all star band from Holland. EP!

Insane/Despite Everything – Split
Two powerhouses from Greece/Balkans, serving you melodic/melancholic unity. This 10″ actually made me hook up my record player again after breaking down.

Bad Ideas – Murder of Gods
“New” band from Sam, formerly of The Living Daylights. Sweetest dude from the UK, killing it whether playing solo or with band. The British Goo Goo Dolls if we may say so? Album out on Shield Recordings.

Teaming up with Peta2: merch to be won!

We’re very happy to announce that we are cooperating with Peta2 Germany, a subdivision of an organization called People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. They focus mainly on informing young people about vegetarianism, veganism and animal rights. Our cooperation means that we will bring flyers etc. to our German shows that can enlighten you about the benefits of leading an animal-friendly life. On our USA tour, we will also bring some PETA-materials, thanks to Peta USA.

To introduce us to their followers, Peta2 has put up a little interview with us (in German). There’s also a little merch-giveaway where you can win a copy of our new EP and some extra goodies. In good old fashioned German: Ihr könnt fette Merchpakete gewinnen, also ab hier hin!

02 July 2012 ~ Comments Off on Merch and Typewriter distro update

Merch and Typewriter distro update

After selling out most books, Typewriter distro provided us with some fresh food for thought. Including obviously books, but also zines, DVDs, folders, stickers and more. Interested in their items? Come to a show, or visit their online store.

Meanwhile we inventoried all re-releases of the last months and updated our little store as well. We added a new T-shirt design and put up a discography-discount. A what? A discography-discount: order all newly available albums (as CDs or LPs) + a shirt of your choice for  30 euro (excl shipping). That’s 3 full-length albums, an EP and a T-shirt. This offer won’t be up for long, so get it while it’s cool! Or just browse our store to see if you can support our future recordings with a purchase.

News about new recordings, releases and tours will follow.

06 February 2012 ~ Comments Off on Some of our best friends are … doing awesome stuff!

Some of our best friends are … doing awesome stuff!

Just Like Your Mom - veggie catering

When you are in a band, you need others to play music. But as a (DIY) band you can’t do everything on your own either. Without friends that help us book shows and tours, release albums, give (good) advice and contacts we would be nowhere. Besides helping us out, our friends are doing really cool things on their own.

Former bass player Yvo and his Typewriter Distro will be going on tour with Rise Against next March to spread their words and wisdom. If you go to a show, just say hello!

Just Like Your Mom - veggie catering

Our “mom” Etjen from Just Like Your Mom has been our behind the scenes help since forever. On this year’s edition of Groezrock “mom” will provide vegan food for the first time. Finally food that lives up to this festival’s standards! OMNOMNOMNOM MOM!

Our friend Lenneke from Macbeth hosts another Macbeth stage at Groezrock. Yes, it’s a competition, but you get to play a crazy show! We had an amazing time when we did it 2 years ago. And while you are at Groezrock you might as well visit our Dutch and Italian labels Shield Recordings and No Reason Records at their stands in the merch tent.

Friends till the end!
