A1 VOORRANG VOOR RECHTS

“Right of way”. Pretty much everywhere in the world there’s a shift to right-wing politics happening, in the Netherlands no different. This shift culminated when the PVV, the Dutch extreme right party of Geert Wilders, won the elections in 2023 and formed a populist government. However, right-wing tendencies were already growing popular in politics, media and culture long before that. The Dutch maximum speed limit had been raised to 130 km/h, the abandonment of Zwarte Piet (a blackface tradition) met with widespread resistance and the climate change deniers’ movement had gained momentum.
“Politically correct” once referred to the fashionability of progressive ideas, these days a lean to the extreme right has become the standard. Democratic regimes sucking up to Trump, mainstream media banning progressive culture to please him; the radical right has become the mainstream.

A2 MINDER, MINDER, MINDER

At a PVV campaign rally Geert Wilders asked the audience if they wanted “more or less Moroccans in their city and in the Netherlands”. When the crowd responded with “Minder, minder, minder” (less, less, less) he responded that he was gonna make that happen. Over 6.000 people filed a report and Wilders got convicted of group insult. Unfortunately this blatant display of racism did not stop his rise to power as this happened before his 2023 election victory.
Wilders is continuously discrediting traditional media, calling them “tuig van de richel” (scum of the earth). However, Ongehoord Nederland, an extreme right-wing TV-channel, has been admitted to the public broadcasting system, supporting the PVV and its message. The supposed censorship of rightwing messages “you can’t say anything anymore” never was true, and is now less true than ever.
Wilders claims to be an outsider in Dutch politics. But in fact he is the longest running member of parliament, making him part of the elitist in-crowd he so despises himself.
The RaRa was a Revolutionary Anti-Racist Action group in the Netherlands. In the early 90s they fought against imperialism, (neo)colonialism and Apartheid as part of their socialist ideology.

In 2022 the Netherlands faced a huge farmers protest. During the pandemic we as a band had time to kill and people spent long hours on their phones. This song and video went viral. It got a million views on TikTok and other platforms. People asked us to put this “jingle” on streaming services. When we couldn’t because of the length the idea surfaced to create an EP, including jingles in an album or EP is allowed. You’re listening to that EP right now…

Sywert van Lienden is a Dutch entrepreneur, political ‘activist’ and lobbyist. Best known for the scam from which he made 9 million euro profit selling facemasks to charity organisations during the pandemic. The only one to celebrate such ruthless commercialism is former prime minister and current NATO honcho Mark Rutte.

B7 FABERTJESLAND

Marjolein Faber was the most merciless and radical minister in the government led by the PVV. She was responsible for asylum and migration issues. Extremely cruel in her words and actions, putting up huge signs saying “We’re working on your return home” at the doors of refugee centers. With Wilders not having a position in the government, Faber was his pawn and confidant in charge of government policies. Good riddance!
